Central Utah Ballet Nutcracker Week 2021

We didn't do a whole lot this weekend because we were recovering from the first Nutcracker week of the season.  Central Utah Ballet performed The Nutcracker at the Covey Center in Provo on November 10th and 11th, two shows each day.  Everything went beautifully-- and it was an exhausting week that we are still recovering from.  Here are some pictures from rehearsals and the performance.

The Brothers Fox
George is Fritz (the tall party boy) and Peter is the party boy to the left of George in a gold vest and his hands over his mouth.
Cannon as the Nutcracker Prince and Hazel as Clara.

Wednesday night Abe, Clark and I went to see the show.  I love that Abe and Clark are so supportive of the boys and their ballet.
Thursday night Abe and the girls went to see the show.  We were all so proud of the boys!  The Nutcracker has become quite the holiday tradition for our family.  Next up is the Oquirrh Mountain Ballet Nutcracker December 10th and 11th.

Happy Moments of Fall

Cannon sporting his new blue suit on his way to a Speech and Debate tournament on Halloween.  He is in the intermediate class with Wasatch Independent Debate League.

Faith is in the thick of the high school swim season and she's loving it.  Practices in the mornings and afternoons are two of her favorite things.
So many beautiful fall walking mornings.  It's the middle of November and it still hasn't turned winter-cold yet.  So nice!
Back at the end of October, Abe, Greta, and I went with Andrea and James some of their family to see the touring Broadway production of Frozen-- which is only Greta's most favorite show with her most favorite character (Elsa) of all time!  The show was awesome and getting to experience it with Greta was SO MUCH FUN!! Such a memorable night.
Greta was so excited about every aspect of the evening-- starting with the tacos we ate at Andrea's before the show.  She was a chatterbox throughout dinner and was critiquing everyone's clothing based on how "Frozen" (used as an adjective) it was.

She convinced Raven to change into her more "Frozen" dress.  I love this picture!
Faith braided Greta's hair into an Elsa braid for the occasion.
Abe and Faith put up the Christmas lights up on the house last weekend.  Taking advantage of the awesome weather.
Last weekend Bluffdale Arts did a Broadway review show.  Abe was invited, but declined to participate-- we just have too much going on.  Even so, he was happy to be reunited with friends from previous shows.
Bethany has decided she wants to serve an 18 month regular proselyting mission.  She'll get her papers turned in and get a call in the next couple months.  So exciting for her!  When she was home last weekend we did a little shopping for dresses and she tried on this dress, which was, shall we say, not a good fit.  She tied the belt around her head and we snapped this little beauty.  It makes me smile:)
Leaf party day.

He was committed.
Group jump!

Last Sunday we had everyone home for dinner.  My cup runneth over.
We took this picture while waiting for Abe to get set apart for his new calling-- ward mission leader.  It is such a joy to have my Foxy Ladies together.
Enoch is a missionary!!!! He is doing home MTC, so we've still gotten to see him.  We adore Enoch!
My love.

When Bethany was home for the weekend she did Greta's violin lesson in person, rather than online.  This was pretty fun to watch-- it was like Bethany teaching a young version of herself.

Halloween 2021 Part 4-- The Final Installment

We had so much fun leading up to Halloween itself didn't quite seem the main event of the season.  At least for us adults.  Not so much for the kids.  Halloween is basically the greatest thing about being a kid!

The first trick-or-treat stop is always home.
Greta and Aly went trick-or-treating with Aly's mom, Annie.
Kate and Michael and the boys and lots of neighbor friends when around together.
Meeting up with the gang from Hogwarts (AKA the Snow family)
I love this picture-- it's the most "dad" picture!  Dads are the best!
Cute little Jedi.
Elinor and Faith went around together for a bit.
We had dinner together before the trick-or-treating started.  There were late games for both the Cougars and the Utes (not playing each other). They both won their games:)
The candy trading post and a Halloween movie with friends was the perfect way to finish the evening.

Halloween 2021 Part 3

Abe and I went to a murder mystery party last week and you know we enjoyed getting costumed for that!  We were playing actors in a haunted house tour.  He was a clueless 80's guy and I was a child murderer.  I didn't murder children, rather I was a child who murdered.

Perhaps something is very wrong with me, because I enjoyed the role way too much.
Murder mystery dinner parties are much looked forward to with this group because everyone goes all out with costumes and characters.

In other fun Halloween happenings, our local DI had a marvelous collection of extremely reasonably priced Halloween costumes.  So we have spoiled Greta with lots of awesome dress-up clothes.
She even has a rack for all her costumes.  She may never wear normal clothes again!
George made Greta a dressing room and a spinner to help her decide what costume to wear.
George is so creative and so good to Greta.
DI didn't just have costumes for Greta.  Did I buy this Ninja Turtle costume for myself?  Uh... yes.  How could I not?  I don't know that I will ever wear it in public, but I knew I had to have it.

Halloween 2021 Part 2-- The Zombie Shoot

Abe had the vision.  Our amazing neighbors provided the setting.  I designed the costumes.  And everybody brought their zombie game for this year's official family Halloween costumes!  Ooh, we have official family Halloween costumes! (as opposed to our unofficial family costumes).  We're so fancy!  I make no apologies for the multiple costumes.  We enjoyed ourselves:)  Listen, 2020 was rough, but for our family, 2021 was markedly rougher.  You've got to give us this little Halloween indulgence and love us anyway:)  And I sort of think these costumes accurately depict how much of 2021 felt.
Elinor definitely wins this picture!
Creepiest picture award.  It's just wrong.
The Foxy Ladies-- Zombie Edition.
The Walking Dead Brothers Fox.
This shot was Cannon's idea.  It was a good one.
The ballet boys get down and dirty.
So beautiful.
Proudly representing the city of Riverton.
No photoshopping involved.  Those are their real eyeballs

Elinor definitely understood the assignment:)
Our neighbors have a hearse.  We're all pretty used to it now, but at first, it was somewhat disconcerting.  We like that they take their Halloween decor so seriously.  They spend about two months preparing for the big day and they usually win one of the city's awards.
Awww... it's a happy little zombie family.
