South Pacific 2018

Last weekend was the run of South Pacific with Bluffdale Arts.  Just Abe and Bethany were a part of the production from our family.  Bethany always planned to be a part of it.  Abe didn't originally audition but was asked to callbacks anyway.  He said he'd be willing to do a small part in the ensemble.  In the end, the guy who was cast as Luther Billis dropped out and the director pleaded with Abe to take the much larger part.
Abe stepped up and of course, he was wonderful!  So animated, and he delivered his lines so clearly and well.  I loved it when he hit the hit note in "Nothing Like a Dame".
Bethany played a nurse and it wasn't her favorite part-- just not much stage time.  And, if I'm being honest, I really don't care for the entire play of South Pacific.  Sitting through it three times last weekend was enough for the rest of my life.  No offense to any of the actors in this production-- they were wonderful!  It's just the show itself.
Seeing Abe belly dance in coconuts was.... how shall I say...unforgettable:)
He seemed rather shocked by the whole experience as well.
The couple weeks leading up to the play are very time intensive.  It is so nice when the play ends and the schedule opens up a little again.
As usual the best thing about being a part of the these plays is the time with friends so dear they are family.
