Easter 2024 Something New

Gathering on the parents' bed before running down to see what the bunny brought.

The line-up

Daniel's first Easter!  He was delighted with his little gifts.  He is such a smiley, sweet baby!
George, Peter, and Greta got Easter baskets, but the older kiddos did not.
Distraught is too strong, but disappointed would more accurately describe the emotions of the older kids in not receiving a basket of candy.  I told them not to worry-- I had something fun planned for them later in the day.  They were doubtful.
Oh ye of little Faith!
But first, church.  Is there anything more glorious than Easter Sunday?  It's my favorite.

It was windy and we ought to have taken the family picture indoors.  Oh well.
Easter dinner with my very favorite people in the whole wide world.
Then came the moment of truth--- could their mother be trusted to not ruin Easter? Here's what we did--
There were ten boxes, with ten gifts.  Each gift was represented by a word.  Each letter of each word was in an egg, strewn around the backyard.  Additionally, lots of eggs contained candy.  The words were written and taped onto the table containing the gifts.  A piece of double-sided tape was on each letter.
The rules:
-- you may only pick up one egg at a time
-- once you pick up an egg, you cannot put it back down
-- you can only open a egg once you are back to the patio
-- if you get candy, it is yours to keep
-- if you get a letter of one of the words, you stick it onto the letter it matches on the table
-- if you are the one to complete a word, that is your gift, and you are out of the hunt

These kids were hustling!
I only needed to do nine, but I miscounted, and did ten.  So I stepped into the picture.
You can't see it very well in the picture-- DRIVE, RELAX, PLAY, WRITE, CREATE, KISS, CASH, SNACK, WATCH, FOOD
The mug shot line-up
The verdict was in--- it was a hit!  They all said it was really fun and they would like to do it again.  And of course, there was a lot of trading after the picture.
In case you're curious, here are the prizes for each word--
DRIVE--- remote control car,      RELAX---bath salts, shower steamers, and blanket,
PLAY----Bop It and Simon,      WRITE--- sharpie markers and sketch pad,    CREATE---- sticker by number book and puzzle    KISS--- Listerine, toothbrush, lip balm, and Hershey kisses     CASH---- $10
SNACK--- salt and vinegar chips and gum    WATCH--- movie gift card    FOOD --- Little Caesars gift card and soda

Mom for the win!
