We Miss Daniel

I'll do a post about the wedding day once we get the photos back.  But a few days post wedding we went over to visit Hunter, Elinor and Daniel in their new place.  They are living in a basement apartment of Hunter's parents in South Jordan.  They were upstairs when we arrived and Daniel was so happy to see "Gampa" and "Mama"-- his version of Grandpa and Grandma.  Don't worry, he doesn't think we are his parents.  Elinor and Hunter are Mom and Dada.  There are no words for how much I love this picture!!!!  We were so happy to seem him and he wanted us both to sit on barstools next to him and he put his arms around us and held us there.  Gah!  My heart couldn't take it!

Hunter is the best!
For quite some time, Daniel has LOVED all things related to the Disney movie, Cars.  So when I found this Lightening McQueen car bed at DI a little while back, I knew I had to get it for him.  It's a twin size bed, so it look ginormous compared to him, but I suppose he'll grow into.  I assume at some point in his growing up he will feel like he has outgrown having a car bed.  Or not, George is 15 and he says he happily sleep in a car bed:)
Daniel lived with us since he was five months old, so we got used to having the little guy around.  We miss him!  The kids were so happy when we got to babysit him for a couple hours last week.
Wearing his "Wicked Smaaaht" t-shirt we brought him from Boston.

Headed into the Taylorsville Temple on the wedding day.  Elinor is wearing the dress that my mom wore for her engagement photos.
Daniel and his "Gampa"  Next to his mom, Abe might be his favorite person on the planet.

Elinor and Hunter's Bridal Photos

Photo credit to the amazing Jake Swoyer, and thanks to Andrea for use of Plumfield for the location.  Elinor and Hunter were thrilled with how the photos turned out, as were Abe and I.

Elinor and Hunter's Engagement Photos

The photographer is Jake Swoyer and Hunter and Elinor LOVED working with him.  As of writing this the bridals and the wedding day have come and gone.  And I concur with with them, he was really fantastic to work with, and I will say, I have NEVER seen a photographer work harder than this man.  He was everywhere capturing everything. I HIGHLY recommend him.

Fox Family Camp pt. 2

We went to hike Bridal Veil Falls-- this is where their Grandpa Fox proposed to Grandma Fox
Little lovebirds

Elinor and Hunter had to work this morning and weren't able to join us.  Sadness for us.

It was a short, easy hike, but still fun.
The reason we chose Bridal Veil Falls for a hike is because it was on the way to where we began our float of the Provo River.  We outfitted ourselves with life jackets, a few paddles and 12 Walmart  inflatable tubes.  You can pay a company to use their tubes and transport you to the starting point. In hindsight, that probably would have been the wisest course.  But with the exception of Clark and Brianna, none of us had ever floated the river and didn't know what to expect.  So we decided to save some money and DIY the adventure.
It was, at least in parts, much more turbulent than we were expecting.  When Clark saw what  tubes we had, he was doubtful that we would all successfully complete the float.
We divided into three groups of four.  Those four tubes were tied together, so we wouldn't get separated.  Our group was Abe, me, Cannon, and George.
Another group was Ben, Bethany, Faith, and Landen
The final group was Clark, Brianna, Peter and Greta.  Sadly, everybody's tube remained inflated and functional... except for Clark's.  Right at the launch he must have snagged on a sharp rock and his tube got a little hole.  With his tube out of commission, his group had to abandon the effort.  At the halfway point we met up and Cannon and George gave their spots to Peter and Greta so they got at least some float time.
So not only was there the normal thrill level of floating the river, but also the danger factor of "is my tube going to pop?"  Very exciting
A picture at one of the calmer parts

Our weirdo cat, Stan, actually liked being in the pool and was an excellent swimmer.
He is definitely the most amusing, bizarre, unpredictable cat we've ever had.  We quite like him.

I prepared a game of family jeopardy-- with categories such as-- Pet Cemetery, Injustices, Important Dates, I Am Your Father, Mother Dearest, Birthday Parties, Vacations, In the Toy Box, and Pet Names.  Basically, questions about our family lore.

Gahhh!!! He is so cute!!!
One of the most enjoyable parts of Family Camp was when Clark was the DM for a short D&D adventure.  My first adventure, in fact!  Clark is such a talented storyteller.
Between the smoke from the fire and the lamps we brought out, it created a really cool ambiance.

This was the sign I taped to the the front glass door.  Apparently, I don't know how to spell "friends".

A final couple of pictures
Clark and Brianna brought Greta this fetching headdress to celebrate her birthday.  Not sure why there is a stick of butter in front of her.

I like this picture of Clark.  I like my family.  And I like Family Camp.  Me thinks we'll do it again next year!
