DAY FIVE-- Monticello

The drive between Gettysburg and Monticello is STUNNING!  The most beautiful green rolling hills and fenced horse properties and gorgeous homes.

The entryway of Jefferson's Monticello.

The bed he died in.

The musical instruments

Because (2026) is the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, several of the sites  (including Monticello) are having a bit of work done to spruce them up for lots of visitors next year.  Thus, the scaffolding, but thankfully, it didn't detract from the overall experience.  The same cannot be said for George Washington's Mount Vernon.  More on that later.
It was cool to see a little archeological dig happening on the property.

20 years ago we brought Clark, Bethany and Elinor back to Virginia and D.C., for a friend's wedding, and here is a side by side of those two visits to Monticello.  So we have taken all 8 of them here......whether they remember or not ;)
