Grover is a five year old Australian Mountain Doodle-- 1/2 poodle, 1/4 Bernese mountain dog, and 1/4 Australian Shepherd.
Grover is a gentle soul and a gentleman. This is his usual resting position on the couch. Grover is not adventurous. He is not food motivated. He is rather nervous in nature and scared of most things. Things like bodies of water-- lakes, ponds, puddles, and sprinklers. Although, he is jealous of the grandkids, he has never demonstrated even a bit of aggression. He walks right by me and never pulls on his leash. He doesn't jump up on people. We feel like we hit the doggie jackpot and we LOVE Grover. We've always felt that his genes need to be passed on to future generations.
Now, let me tell you a story of another dog.
A dog quite the opposite of Grover.
A couple months ago we were asked to take care of a neighbor's dog.
Here is a picture of the beast. Long story short, this dog totally BIT ME!
It hurt like the dickens and the pain lasted for several weeks.
It was so surprising how much it swelled and then bruised. It is still tender.
No bueno.
So you'd think that after such a negative experience with a dog, I might not be keen on getting another dog.
Alas, you would be mistaken. We did a get another dog-- her name is Frannie. Grover Cleaveland's wife was name Francis-- so our Grover's doggie wife is Frannie. She is a one year-old mini golden doodle, and she is magnificent, friendly, beautiful, and good-natured.
She LOVE, LOVE, LOVES to play fetch. She plays fetch for days. How did we hit the doggie jackpot twice in a row???
Greta made a bridal veil for Frannie
And a boutonniere from Grover for their wedding.
