This and That of Life

Italian Thanksgiving is a highlight of the holiday season.  The Youngs were our gracious hosts this year.

Our third extended family:)
This is what a few good men look like.
Temple trip with friends.
We entertained one another with a talent show along with singing a few Christmas carols.
George melted down crayons and poured them into a cookie cutter to make a cool crayon.
Peter put on A LOT of socks.
It made for an excellent point shoe:)
What beautiful pointy toes he has!
Hello, Flexible!
Sometimes our elf forgets to move.  But sometimes he really slays it.  Like this day when he wore custom-made wiener dog underwear.  Haha!  Older siblings are awesome.

Greta came with Abe and me to cheer for Faith at the Silver Rush swim meet.
Faith and Braxton are great swimt eam friends, (JUST friends) They are usually found together at meets and since he's a lot taller than her, it makes it easier to find her on deck.
Faith is in the purple suit in the middle.  She is loving swim more than ever.
Check out those back muscles!  This picture was taken during a private lesson where she was working on her backstroke starts.  She working hard to improve her technique.
Our amazing neighbors and dear friends, the Chases, organize these awesome boys to do a sock drive each December.  They love it and I'm so grateful for the effort they put in.
The tree fort is a work of art:)

Abe had a same-day hernia surgery back at the beginning of December.  It went very smoothly and his recovery was pretty quick.  But I will say it was a trick having him somewhat out of commission for a few days during such a busy time of the year.  He and I make a pretty good team and it was markedly harder without him.
It must be noted how sweet/funny Abe is when he comes out of anesthesia.  I mean, he is a real sweetheart normally, but after surgery, he is SO mushy, gushy, lovey, dovey.  And he is SO grateful to all the nurses and hospital staff.  He told his nurse she had really nice eyes, but immediately told her they weren't as nice as mine!
Faith was Swimmer of the Month for her Lehi team in November.
Elinor had so much fun judging the "Mr. Silver Rush Pageant" at Riverton High School.  It's part of the huge fundraising Silver Rush activity they do in the month of December.
A couple of her good swim team friends were competing as well.  Faith and I went to watch and it was SO FUNNY-- I mean, really hysterical.  Such good fun for a such a good cause.
Elinor, Faith, and Tristin.
Elinor went to another Miss Riverton fundraising function that Miss Murray was putting on and she was instructed to dress as a princess or superhero.  Naturally, she made her own spiderman costume and was thrilled with the results.  This picture is SO ELINOR!
Spiderman was her first crush and she's never really gotten over him.

Thanksgiving 2021

The extended Fox clan attempted some football the morning of Thanksgiving.  There was a good turnout, but organized sports aren't really their thing, so I'm not sure how much actual football was played.  No matter-- they had fun.  Fun is their thing.

I adore this picture of Peter-- so very Charlie Brown-- except it's not Lucy pulling it away.
What a beautiful day with the blue sky.

Just a smattering of the many Fox cousins.
While they played football, this was my work!  Are they not a beautiful sight to behold?  I quite enjoyed myself.
Stuart and Tiffany were so good to host so many of us for the feast.
Bethany and Lindsey and Lauren
Elinor and Annie
I've always thought Elinor and Everett look so similar.
The young adults/ young married table.
Tiffany really does a fabulous job of hosting and making things nice for everyone.
The musicians
Five of the seven brothers.

This picture was taken a couple days after thanksgiving at cousin Henry's baptism up in Centerville,  But this picture of little Charlie-- he is the yummiest baby I think I've ever seen!
Putting together the Christmas treat boxes for my piano students.
Corrine returned home from her mission just before Thanksgiving and the following Sunday was her homecoming.  So good to see the robotics kids together again.
A little Heroscape with the Shaw boys.
We recently got Jack Box Games-- so much fun.  However, not surprisingly, things deteriorated rather quickly.
They were highly amused.

Bits and Pieces of Life

Fake eyelashes also serve as an excellent Hitler mustache and unibrow.  Haha!  Okay, listen.  I have been remiss in blogging for the last month and a half.  This is by far the longest I've ever gone without blogging-- and at a time of year when so much is happening.  So the next few posts may just be catching up, but as always, done is better than perfect.  So here are a few bits and pieces of the last couple of months.  Here we go!

The youth did a great missionary training activity.  Faith was companions with McKenzie
Cannon was with Joey and Jake.  Abe and I taught one of the mini classes about missionary manners.
We don't have a large youth group, but they are wonderful and I am especially thankful for the wonderful leaders who foster relationships with them and give so much of their time to providing opportunities for learning and fun.
Greta was tickled pink with the Christmas tree at her dance studio.
This was a fun post on the Riverton High School swim team reminding the team about an upcoming meet back in November.  It's Faith swimming the butterfly.
My favorite kind of evening out-- Mousetrap at Hale Center Theater.
One of those little moments that made me smile--my piano student, Kate, came to piano lessons with her knife in her back pocket.  You never know when you'll need protection at piano.
Abe went with Faith to an early Saturday morning swim meet.  His job was to be a timer.  Her job was to swim fast.
Led by George, the kids built a tree fort.  That doesn't look dangerous at all.
Bethany, Elinor and I went to the Miss Herriman Scholarship competition.  We have a pretty good time together.
Our sweet back neighbor, Mikayla, left on her mission to Cananda.  Such a beautiful farewell talk from such a beautiful person.  What a joy to see these ladies grow up.
Abe took the kiddos to hike the Y.
Jesse and Amy's family were in town for Thanksgiving, so there was a good size group of them who went.
Abe, Jesse, and Stuart
Nice view
Faith did the boys' hair.
It was a labor of love.
Look at me doing a home improvement project!  I painted the kitchen cabinets.  Don't look too close-- I'm not terribly detail-oriented.  But I do consider it a marked improvement and I'm very happy with how they turned out.
It was the day before Thanksgiving, but we had the time and we decided to put up the tree a little early.
I love this picture.  Cannon LOVES the cat.  The cat is not impressed.
Let the snowflake wall begin!
Welcoming in the Christmas season with Santa hats, snowflakes, and corndogs for lunch.
