Elinor recently gifted Faith a pair of Pit Viper sunglasses. I don't quite get the appeal, but apparently, they are all the rage amongst the Lehi Aquatics swim team. They are comfortable but hideous. Which pretty well describes the fashion sense of swimmers-- comfortable, but hideous. We frequently remark how swimmers are, by far, the worst dressed of all athletes. We're mostly just grateful when they wear pants in public. This is the face of a very, very happy Faith after she swam her 100 butterfly at the big high school regions meet on Saturday. By .02 of a second, she qualified for the USA Senior State Championship in St. George later in February. This has been her goal for the whole year and she was SO HAPPY!!!!! She was already qualified for the high school state meet, but that is nowhere near as competitive. Here is a very happy Faith showing off her haul of medals at the end of the meet. She got 4th in the 100 backstroke, 5th in butterfly, and both her relays (200 medley and 4x100 freestyle) placed third.
Funny thing about her swimsuit. No joke, it takes at least 15 minutes to put on. She was able to put it on without assistance, but that wasn't the case for some teammates. Sometimes fastskins require a group effort. They are that tight. Putting on the tech suit is more of a workout than the races.
It's so fun for me to get to go watch her do what she loves most. I loved it when Elinor was swimming and I still love it with Faith. I'm glad she's only a sophomore.Since Riverton are the Silverwolves, the team did these temporary tattoos. Apparently, they were much bigger than the coach anticipated, but I thought they looked pretty cool. Their 200 Medley Relay. So now the high school 5 am morning practices to get ready for State continue for another few weeks. She doesn't mind and thankfully she has a carpool that picks her up so Abe and I don't mind either. She happily falls into bed around 8pm every night and wakes up rested and ready to get back in the pool.
