Roller Valley and Mission Pool 2022

Roller Valley is one of my favorite activities of the reunion.  I may be 45 years old, but I still love to roller skate.  It's been many years since Grandma Fox joined us at the rink  It was so fun to have her there

This isn't even close to all the Foxes-- these are just those who made it to the reunion this year.
The boys with their brothers shirts Katie made them when they went to the Billy Joel concert in Vegas earlier this year.
Doing the Hokey-Pokey with my little Greta.
When Uncle Baden fell down during he Hokey-Pokey, and he just kept on dancing!
Betsy and Lori's reign of terror during sharks and minnows-- skating rink style.  Why was I pushing Lori around in a wheelchair?  Well, sadly, she had a little mishap getting on the Scrambler ride a Silverwood a couple of days previous.  She had to get staples in her head and was pretty banged up.  Skating around herself wasn't an option.  But you know it was the joy of my life to get to push her around the skating rink.  Lori is seriously one of the funniest people I know.  So between her humor and my competitive nature-- we were a force to be reckoned with.
Ha ha ha!  We have too much fun.
Peter and Adam both won slushies for winning sharks and Minnows.
Don't mess with teenagers and their pizza.
Tough moms gearing up for the women's 18 and up category of the races.  For the record, although I was DYING of jealously because her nylon warm-up suit was SO FREAKING AWESOME-- Amy did not win.  And neither did Mary or me.  I believe Adam's wife, Sammy won,  However, nobody wanted to race next to Mary.  Yes, cute, sweet kind-spoken little Mary.  She skates dirty with lots of army flailing.  Stay away from Mary in a race.
All nine siblings.  It is quite a remarkable thing that they all love each other so much, but even more remarkable is how much they enjoy each other.

When Peter decides to do something, he is ALL IN-- total belly flop commitment!

Foxes are a party wherever we go and we did still enjoy ourselves at Mission Valley Pool.  However, the lifeguards were.... how shall I say... not pleasant to work with.  They blew their whistles at every little thing.  For example, Uncle Phil was holding his breath and playing dead with the little nieces.  Honest to goodness, the lifeguard blew a whistle and told Phil not to hold his breath like that.  Are you kidding me?  Throw your little kid up and away from you so they land in the water?  Nope.  Whistle was blown.  Too many cousins crowded around each other?  You guessed it-- whistle blown.  And the thing is, we had rented out the entire pool and there were loads of lifeguards there, AND all the parents of all these kids.  I'm sorry to speak ill of any lifeguards, but COME ON!!!
Mission Pool day was George's birthday, and much to his horror, Abe led the family in singing Happy Birthday to him.  George isn't a big fan of being the center of attention and he may have tried to run away and hide in the boys' bathroom.  Okay, he did run away and try to hide.  But happy birthday to him anyway:)
The swim races by age category.  As you might have guessed, Faith mopped the floor with everyone.
Classic!  George Washington hairstyle.  Faith wears it well.
I hope we continue the tradition of a pool day, but maybe not at Mission Pool.  I don't think the lifeguards liked us any better than we liked them.  Maybe the rules might be a little more lax over on the Idaho side of the state line.
Several of the families enjoyed lunch at Ron's Drive-In after swimming.  Will's birthday is the day after George's so we were doing a birthday lunch for them.
I have no idea why Greta is making that face in this picture.  But I know that Peter was demonstrating to us how tired he was after he swam his first individual medley.  He swam across the pool butte

rfly, then back on backstroke, then across on breaststroke, and finally back on freestyle.  It was impressive and he was dead tired.  Looks like we may have another swimmer in the family.
Peter did win for his age group:)
