This past week was our Cub Scout Pinewood derby. To say that Abe is not really a fan of the pinewood derby is... well... it's an understatement.
I do not wish to go into too much detail here on the blog. Feel free to ask him how he really feels. I'll just say, there are many other ways he would prefer to spend his time rather than making pinewood derby cars. And this year he committed to making three of them. One for Cannon, who actually is in Cub Scouts. One for Faith because the Activity Day girls were invited to join in for a Powder Puff derby and one for George because he's almost in Cub Scouts and it's fun to Team Middle Kids to do stuff together.
Between procrastination, family in town, and our trip to Boise, he was in a pretty serious time crunch to help the kids get them done. But they did get done, they looked very respectable and they did not shame the family in speed down the track.
It was a fun evening. Peter and Greta kept me hopping and scared me away from attempting a trip to the zoo the next day, but the actually pinewood derby car racing was fun and the kids had a great time.
Abe doesn't get grouchy very often. But the pressure of three Pinewood Derby cars in a couple of days was enough to get Abe to go there. He was most relieved to have it over with!
