Everyone was in agreement-- Nauvoo was awesome! Sure, some people had a higher tolerance for the constant going and doing than others, but it wasn't a problem. People took breaks when they needed to. We were all spiritually fed and uplifted. We soaked in the spirit of Nauvoo. We appreciated the sacrifices and hard work of the early Saints. We were thoroughly entertained by unbelievable talent and devotion. Our time in Nauvoo was everything we dreamed it would be and much, much more. This experience is a dream come true for Bethany, but honestly, it's a dream come true for us to get to see her doing this. She blew us away with how she has developed her talents and what amazing opportunities have come to her. I loved getting to hug Bethany on my birthday! It was okay saying goodbye because she'll be home in just over a month.
And you know I've been thinking of ways to get myself back out here again this summer!
I encourage everyone to GO TO NAUVOO!! It's totally worth it!We delivered Bethany her Nalley's Chili-- a brand she can't get at the Walmart in Keokuk. The "Bethany's Chili... don't touch" is a family joke from a children's book, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle. Our final stop in Nauvoo was the Smith family burial site. None of the Community of Christ owned sites were open for tours. Our next destination was Kirtland, Ohio, but we took a slight detour so we could drive through Chicago. We hit up a Raising Cane's for lunch-- Clark was wearing the right shirt for the day-- his First 100 customers from the South Jordan, Utah store.A bad picture of the Chicago skyline-- proof that we saw it:)As we were driving into the Cleveland area there was a suspicious looking circular moving dark cloud. Were we wrong to wonder if a tornado was nearby? No worries, all was well.We hustled into the hotel as quickly as we could so the kids could catch the last twenty-five minutes of swim time before the pool closed. They wished they had more time (I can understand that sentiment) but at least they had some swim time after a long day of driving.
