Day 10 (Saturday)--But I Don't Want to Leave

Saturday was the last morning on the boat.  We started sailing early back to Canoaun, where we'd hang out for a few hours before catching our puddle jumper flight back to Barbados.

The sun was trying to break through, but there were storm clouds in the sky.  We had to be off the boat by 9:00 am.  Serious sadness.  They took us in the dinghy back to the little dock where they originally picked us up.  We hugged Roly and Donny and thanked them. Did I cry?  No.  I WEPT.  Seriously, I was so sad it was over.  It had been so, so wonderful.  This might be a once-in-a-lifetime kind of trip, and if it is, it is more than enough!   Life owes me nothing after an experience like this.  No wonder I was sad to see it end.

Not too long after we said goodbye, those storm clouds opened up and it poured rain for a good while. It's hard to capture rain in photos, but it was really coming down!  So much water, so fast!  The storm delayed our flight a bit.
Here we are flying over Salt Whistle Bay and you can see the road headed to the right that we hiked to get to the other side. We made a little stop on Union Island and tried to land on Bequia, but the weather was too bad.  So we just headed for Barbados.
Barbados is a pretty small island, but compared to the islands of the Grenadines, it seemed so big!
It worked out that we didn't stay at the same hotel as James and Andrea on this end of the trip.  Our accommodations were great-- we got checked in and then shortly headed out to Oistins Fish Fry.
On the way to Oistins, Abe jumped out of our Taxi (after asking the driver to stop) so he could get a pic by this home that George Washington stayed at in 1751 as a young man briefly.
Uncle George's was highly recommended to us.
But wait a minute!  Betsy, I thought you hated seafood?
You are right.  Betsy does hate seafood.  But Island Betsy is a different bird!  While on board, she ate kingfish.  She ate tuna...and she liked it!
At Oistins, I ordered a snapper.  A WHOLE SNAPPER!  They brought me the whole fish-- head and all-- and a ton of other sides as well.  Could I do it?  Could I eat it when it actually looked like a fish?
HECK YES, I COULD!  It was so good!  Island Betsy is so awesome!
Abe enjoyed his fried flying fish.  It was good that he really wanted to come to Oistins and made it happen.  It was a great way to spend the last evening of our trip.
And then there was Pamela--A.K.A. "Dark Sugar", as she informed us was her other name was.  She was pretty awesome and she convinced Abe that this was the shirt for him.  I'll let you decide if she did him any favors:) But seriously, she was so much fun and we finished up our souvenir shopping for the kiddos.
